Buenas Dias hermano y hermanas...Good morning brothers and sisters!
Well we had Honduran breakfast burrito this morning. It was a homemade tortilla with refried beans, scrambled eggs, cheese, and a delicious homemade salsa. With it we had fried bananas....WOW it was good and all the team members ate some. The food has been great! Jane Wallin and her team said it would be good and they were right. Today, we had a girl winner for neatest bunk...Caroline Candler. The girls have had some guests stop by...one night it was a large mouse and yesterday it was bats in their ceiling but they got by declaring they would rather have bats than rats...not sure I follow their logic but hey....they are missionaries!!
The Bible Club went great yesterday. We had about 75 kids and our team did a wonderful job working with the kids...improvising how to communicate. The young people are doing mini plays to illustrate the Gospel and the children really enjoyed them. The kids just eat up affection and attention. We give them a penutbutter sandwich and drink and they make a craft to keep each day. Now this is big stuff down here because in America kids can go to 4 or 5 VBS over the summer but these kids never see anything like this. In Honduras the culture does not think very much about kids. Churches do not reach out to children like we do in the States. So this is a big deal here. Pray for our team as we gear up for day 2 of our Bible Club.
We had a rip snortin' frog stranglin' A # 1 first class monsoon rain after supper last night. We are so thankful it was after our clinic and Bible Club. We played Uno last night in the dining hall for awhile and every one was asleep around 11 pm. We meet each morning for a meeting then devotions and then meet after supper to debrief the day. We all hold hands and pray thanking God for what He is doing.
Please pray for Steve Zurlinden...his mom had surgery 3 weeks ago but had to be airlifted to a larger hospital. The family called our team telephone we brought here and he has been in touch with his family. She is in stable but serious condition. The phone has come in handy here in Honduras. They are waiting to see how she responds to critical care. So keep her and Steve in prayer.
That is all for today...pray for God's power to be seen and known. Pat
